Higher Close On Strong iPad Sales

Impressive iPad sales lifted the markets to a modestly higher close with the Dow adding 6 points to 13,239. Nasdaq gained 23 points to 3078.

On the upside

A Seeking Alpha contributor expects Agenus (Nasdaq: AGEN) to earn substantial revenue from its QS-21 substance that enhances a patient's immune response to cancer therapies.

FBR Capital lifted its price target for EnergySolutions (NYSE: ES) from $7 to $8.


Jefferies upgraded Excel Maritime (NYSE: EXM) to a Hold rating.


On the downside


LDK Solar (NYSE: LDK) lowered the high end of its fourth quarter revenue guidance.


Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) will not release a new Xbox console in the near future.

Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) denied rumors that it would issue a secondary offering.

In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of more than 5 to 3 on both the NYSE and on Nasdaq. The Russell 2000 which tracks small cap stocks climbed 7 points to 837.
