US SMALL/MIDCAPS-Stocks sell off after S&P cuts U.S. outlook

NEW YORK, April 18 (Reuters) - Shares of small and midcap companies slid more sharply than the broader market on Monday, underperforming the broader market, as cautious investors sold more risky stocks after Standard & Poor's downgraded its long-term outlook on the United States.
