American InterContinental UniversityTM Launches intellipathTM MBA

Online MBA students at American InterContinental University (AIU) now have the opportunity to make their studies even more efficient with the launch of AIU’s intellipath MBA, the first MBA program in the U.S. driven by adaptive learning technology. The first AIU students will experience the program beginning April 28, 2014, with a full launch planned for June.

AIU’s proprietary adaptive learning technology, intellipath, helps MBA students streamline their studies by assessing and identifying each student’s current understanding of a topic and then tailoring the type and order of the lessons presented to meet each student’s individual needs. The result is a customized learning map that lets students focus their time on what they need to learn and skip over what they already know, creating a personalized and more efficient learning experience.

“We know MBA students come to AIU with knowledge from their prior education and professional experience,” said Dr. Robert Manzer, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at AIU. “The intellipath MBA respects students’ time and knowledge by tailoring content and lessons to their individual learning needs.”

The intellipath MBA, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), launches first with a Specialization in Management, the most popular specialization at AIU. As in other AIU programs, students enrolled in the intellipath MBA will take more courses devoted to their field of interest, on average, than at other similar schools. By taking two classes per quarter, students can complete their master’s degree in less than one year.

A Personalized MBA Program

The intellipath MBA is built around an in-depth curriculum developed by AIU’s faculty of industry specialists. As part of their individual learning map, students will receive customized course content that allows them to learn the way they learn best – reading, watching, listening and interacting.

Intellipath also allows faculty to follow and guide student progress on a highly individualized basis, because they can monitor student progress to see exactly where students are doing well and where they need added support. Students receive immediate, real-time feedback on their progress through intellipath and also can benefit from faculty’s industry perspective through conversations on online discussion boards, twice weekly live chats, online office hours and one-on-one interactions via email, IM or phone.

Intellipath launched last year in AIU’s Math, English, Business and Information Technology undergraduate courses, and more than 18,000 AIU students already have taken an intellipath course at AIU to date.

Online Learning Continues to Grow

Students are continuing to turn to online education more than ever. In fact, the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) reported that 5.35 million students are taking some form of distance education, which equates to 25% of all higher education students.1

AIU makes it easy for students to learn anytime, anywhere. All AIU course content is accessible online through one login and in one centralized location, and students have access to a 24/7 support system by phone, email or live chat.

About the AIU MBA

More than 14,000 students have received their MBA from AIU, and four out of five employers of AIU MBA graduates say they are likely to hire another AIU graduate.2 The AIU MBA Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
