Michael Tornabe on Kolelino Zip-Line Commute

Future travel could include zipping from one place to the next on a zip line.

NIAGARA FALLS, NY, June 08, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Travel in the future will take various forms. Magnetic levitation, jetpacks that allow you to travel above ground, driverless cars, the hyper loop and so much more. Most of these are already a reality while others are still in the concept stage. Either way, you can be sure that in the next 10 years, travel as you know it will have changed dramatically.

Perhaps some of the more interesting inventions in the 21st century are those that involve individual travel. The Martin Jetpack is an example as is the Kolelino zip-line. "Commuting via Zip-line is actually becoming a reality" said Michael Tornabe, the man at the helm of the Logan Bus Company, when asked what he thought of the idea of zip-line travel.

In Thessaloniki in the year 2010, a gentleman by the name of Martin Angelov put forth his concept on the same. His idea was to have wires that would crisscross above the ground that people could use to zip from one place to the other. This would reduce the cost of building roads.

His other argument is that this is a green means of transportation. Those who would use the Kolelino zip-line would need to get onto the seat powered by a battery and hang from a steel wire in the sky. You would fasten yourself onto it and go whizzing from one place to the next. In a pedestrian zone, you would hang lower and in places where there is traffic, you would rise up higher.

"Even though this means of transport has wonderful benefits, it also has several drawbacks," says Michael Tornabe. "In bad weather, a person has no way of shielding him or herself." This is one of those things that Angelov needs to consider seriously in order to make the idea a success.

Obviously, those who fear heights will not find it to be an ideal mode of travel and the various questions regarding safety are yet to be ironed out. Nonetheless, the idea is a very innovative one and hopefully somebody will make it a practical reality in the near future.

As travel changes the emphasis is ongoing green and on the reduction of greenhouse emissions, an idea such as this one that has taken that into consideration is worth exploring.
