General Electric: Why Its ‘Meet’ is Really a ‘Miss’

General Electric ( GE ) has been betting that it would be better off as a pure-play industrial company than the financial-industrial conglomerate of the pre-financial-crisis world. It's shed much of GE Financial --and the SIFI tag that went with it --and bulked up through its acquisition of Alstom , and other companies.
