Improved sentiment reflected in stock market

The mild rise in consumer confidence reported Friday reflects in part the stock market’s recent recovery as well as signs of stabilization in the banking sector. However, improved sentiment may not necessarily translate into increased consumer spending this time around, as consumers have shown a newfound appreciation for higher savings and less household debt, equity analysts say.
