Based in the Netherlands, Akzo Nobel N.V.is a Global Fortune 500 chemicals company, producing a vast array of goods such as human and animal pharmaceuticals, paints, stains, hospital supplies, and other products. The company operates three business segments: Coatings, Chemicals, and Pharma. The Coatings segment makes decorative, industrial and protective coatings, as well as industrial finishes, car refinishes, and other industrial products. The Chemicals segment produces specialty, functional, and commodity chemicals. Its products include pulp and paper, surfactants, polymers and base chemicals, as well as high-quality salts. The Pharma segment is engaged in research, development, manufacturing, sales and services in strategic areas of human and animal healthcare. The Pharma business is named as Organon Biosciences (OBS). This segment comprises two units: Organon, which makes prescription medicines and produces complex active pharmaceutical ingredients and Intervet, which manufactures veterinary products.
