GEICO teams up with Disabled American Veterans for community 5K in San Diego November 9

For injured veterans in need of help on their road to recovery, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) provides crucial support to get them the full range of benefits available to them. GEICO has partnered with DAV for its first annual community 5K walk, run and motorcycle ride in San Diego on Sunday, Nov. 9, that will raise funds for wounded veterans and their families.

“GEICO has a remarkable history of supporting the veteran community,” said DAV National Adjutant and CEO Marc Burgess. “On behalf of DAV’s 1.2 million members, I want to thank GEICO for partnering with us for the San Diego DAV 5K and we’re looking forward to working with them as we continue to fulfill promises to those who served.”

The 5K will start and end inside NTC Park at Liberty Station, and all members of the community are invited to participate or attend and cheer from the sidelines. Online registration runs through Nov. 2. For additional information and to register, go to the DAV 5K website.

"GEICO is proud to support active-duty service members and veterans by supporting the DAV 5K in San Diego," said Michael Baker, GEICO director of military marketing. "Many of GEICO's first customers were military members, so our company has a strong connection to those who have served our country. We're proud to help bring the San Diego community together to raise funds that will help get our injured veterans the treatment they need."
