Vic Keller, Founder of ZAK Products, announced via Twitter (@vickeller) a generous reward to assist in locating a Sprint Cup car stolen last night. Driver Travis Kvapil was set to qualify on Friday afternoon in the Team Xtreme #44 car but was forced to withdraw from Sunday’s race after the Team Xtreme crew chief reported the trailer with the car inside missing early that morning from outside the team’s hotel.
According to the police report, surveillance footage captured part of the theft, at 5:25 a.m., a newer model silver or grey Jeep Cherokee was observed driving into the Drury Inn parking lot. It was seen returning at 5:32 a.m.; two minutes later, the trailer and the car inside were seen leaving the property.
“ZAK Products is offering a pit pass for the remainder of the 2015 season for information leading to the return of the Team Xtreme #44 car,” Keller explained. “We feel terrible for Team Xtreme and Travis and we are willing to do whatever we can to help.”
Team Xtreme, owned by John Cohen, had chosen not to participate in the open test at Atlanta, which is why the car was not already secured inside the track. Both the team and ZAK Products urge the public to be on the lookout for a white unmarked white Sunbeam trailer with New Jersey plates, and to alert local authorities with any information they may have.
