Longings FEI World Cup Equestrian Competition honors benevolent work supporting U.S. Veterans and rescued shelter dogs
SAN DIEGO - Oct. 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Proceeds from the Del Mar International Horse Show will honor the mission of Shelter to Soldier “Saving lives, two at a time” hosted by West Palms Event Management on October 16, 2015 beginning at 5:00 pm at the Del Mar Fairgrounds located at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar, CA, 92014. The event is designated to benefit the non-profit organization Shelter to Soldier, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that rescues shelter dogs and trains them to become psychiatric service dogs for post 9-11 combat veterans suffering from PTSD and/or TBI. Every day, approximately 3200 orphaned dogs are euthanized across America, while 22 U.S. veterans and one active duty service member commit suicide due to psychiatric symptoms often correlated with combat duty (Veterans Administration). Funds raised at this event will help Shelter to Soldier continue their mission to provide alternative therapy through the use of service dogs to alleviate psychological trauma experienced by U.S. military combat veterans. www.sheltertosoldier.org

The Longines FEI World CupTM Jumping Del Mar equestrian competition is one of only seven World Cup Qualifiers on the West Coast and includes a roster of Olympic veterans from within the international equestrian field. Participating riders will receive credit on their top performing horse and the opportunity to compete at the World Cup Finals. According to Danielle Ballard, Marketing and Events Manager for West Palms Event Management, “We strive to deliver events that cater to top-level equestrians, while also serving the needs of the amateur, juniors and children who love and compete in our sport. We also embrace a charitable component for our Del Mar event and are honored to align with Shelter to Soldier, a worthy organization that alleviates medical conditions suffered by our returning troops.” For additional information or to RSVP to the event, visit Shelter to Soldier: www.sheltertosoldier.org/events.

Following the Saving Lives, Two at a Time fundraising event on Friday, October 16th, a dual-agility course demonstration with six dogs and participating horses will be a highlight of the Charity Woof Cup on October 17 at 6:45 pm. The October 16th event is a complimentary event that requires an RSVP and the October 17 event is ticketed at $25 per person. To purchase Charity Woof Cup tickets, visit: www.JumpDelMar.com. Shelter to Soldier Founder Graham Bloem remarks, “We’re tremendously honored to be the recipient of funds from this world-class equestrian event and the Charity Woof Cup will provide an interactive and entertaining show.
