Butler Group Recommends Sitecore CMS for Its Extensive Functionality and Web 2.0 Capabilities

Sitecore, the leading provider of .NET Web Content Management System (CMS) and portal software, today announced a just-released Butler Group Technology Audit praised Sitecore CMS for its extensive functionality including Web 2.0 capabilities. The well-respected European analyst firm stated that Sitecore CMS is “well worth a more in depth examination” by mid-size enterprises.

Of the many features highlighted in the report, Butler took particular note of Sitecore’s Web 2.0 functionality, citing such capabilities as blogs, wikis, tools for RSS syndication and ‘email a friend.’ The report also cited Sitecore’s delivery of dynamic personalized content as a key product differentiator. By separating the content from the design of the Web pages, Sitecore CMS enables business users to create and publish content, which allows personalized and dynamic content to be delivered to visitors.

Sue Clarke, senior research analyst and author of the report, cited the trend, noting, “One of the most important recent developments in WCM is the growth of Web 2.0, which has provided organizations with new methods for engaging with customers through a two-way communication. Sitecore CMS has embraced the new techniques by providing the tools required by organizations to provide facilities for blogs, wikis, Web forums, discussions, polls, and surveys, in order to help organisations provide differentiators over competitors.”

Butler Group is the most recent organization to issue a strong and positive review for Sitecore CMS. Not only did Butler recognize Sitecore’s CMS system as widely-deployed but it also cited the strengths and usability of Sitecore’s Intranet Portal and Foundry products.

Clarke commented, “Butler Group regards Sitecore CMS to be a well-rounded product with many capabilities that enable organizations to create and manage Web sites, and the addition of Foundry provides the ability to centrally manage and support multiple distributed Web sites in order to maintain global branding, whilst allowing localized content to be published.”

The Technology Audit highlighted the benefits of a WCM-specialized vendor such as Sitecore, which devotes its entire effort to research and development and enhancing the existing platform as opposed to the larger Enterprise Content Management vendors that must divide resources among all the areas of functionality. The report underscored the strength of Sitecore and its extensive partner network in the European community, as well as its substantial presence in North America.

“We are honored to be recognized by a leading analyst firm like Butler,” said Darren Guarnaccia, VP of Product Marketing for Sitecore. “We have been experiencing explosive growth worldwide by providing mid-size enterprises and Global 2000 organisations in all vertical markets web experiences that drive business results. Butler’s review highlights Sitecore’s continued commitment and successful solutions for the United Kingdom and European market.”

Butler Group is the IT End User division of Datamonitor Plc and is a leading provider of Information Technology research, analysis, and advice. Founded in 1990, Butler Group is respected throughout the business world for the impartiality and incisiveness of its research and opinion.
