Ener-G-Rotors and NYSERDA Partner to Build 50kW Waste Heat Recovery System

Ener-G-Rotors, Inc. (www.ener-g-rotors.com), a manufacturer of systems to turn low temperature heat into electricity announced an $800,000 project with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to build a 50kW prototype system that will convert heat to electricity. Ener-G-Rotors products are specifically designed to be economical, providing a payback as short as two years. They are modular, so they can fit in any industrial setting, and non-disruptive, with minimal maintenance needs and attendance free operation.

“NYSERDA is an excellent partner for us and we appreciate their support,” says Michael Newell, CEO of Ener-G-Rotors, which recently received the “Most Promising Technology” award at the Cleantech Forum XXI in San Francisco and “Best Presentation” at SmartStart, upstate New York’s premier venture forum. “We expect our 50kW product to represent a breakthrough in efficiency and affordability to extract value from industrial waste, biomass, engine exhaust, solar thermal or geothermal heat sources.”

Francis J. Murray, Jr., NYSERDA President and CEO noted Ener-G-Rotors’ recent progress and awards: “Ener-G-Rotors continues to lead in developing a low-temperature heat-to-electricity generator that could really fill a need and an efficiency gap in the marketplace. Their recent peer recognition at another industry forum confirms for NYSERDA the value of their advanced development work here in New York.”

About Ener-G-Rotors

Ener-G-Rotors, Inc. sells appliances that convert heat sources of less than 400°F into electricity at various scales from 1kW to eventually as large as 250kW. The patented expander technology, called a Trochoidal Gear Engine™ (TGE), is more efficient, cost effective, and durable than existing technologies. The company is targeting the industrial waste heat market with a 50kW appliance which can provide our customers with less than a two-year payback. Products in other sizes provide opportunities from residential solar thermal to geothermal applications. Ener-G-Rotors recently received the “Most Promising Technology” award at the Cleantech Forum XXI in San Francisco, and was chosen as one of the “Top 10 Private Companies to Watch in 2009” by EnergyTechStocks.com.
