Jeffrey R. Cooper Named Career Education Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer

Career Education Corporation (NASDAQ: CECO), a provider of postsecondary education programs and services, today announced the appointment of experienced ethics and compliance leader Jeffrey R. Cooper as Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer.

Mr. Cooper joins Career Education from ITT Educational Services, Inc., where he served in a similar capacity, responsible for, among other things, overseeing all compliance programs and enterprise risk management for the company and its educational institutions. He also oversaw internal audit at ITT Educational Services.

Before his 10 years with ITT Educational Services, Mr. Cooper served for eight years as Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Great American Financial Resources, Inc., a subsidiary of American Financial Group. Mr. Cooper was also a member of the Ethics Officers Association and the Advisory Board for the Center for Business Ethics and Social Responsibility of Xavier University's Williams College of Business. Before joining the American Financial Group of companies, Mr. Cooper was a management labor and corporate lawyer in both private and corporate practice. He currently serves as a Board Member for the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities.

A graduate of Boston University, he earned a law degree from the University of Miami School of Law.
