On the upside
Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (NYSE: SID) will repurchase up to 70.2 million shares of company stock.
Scorpio Tankers (NYSE: STNG) will sell seven Very Large Crude Carriers that are currently under construction for a gain of approximately $50 million.
Axiom Capital upgraded JA Solar Holdings (Nasdaq: JASO) from a Sell rating to a Buy rating.
On the downside
Roth Capital downgraded Plug Power (Nasdaq: PLUG) from a Buy rating to a Neutral rating while Cowen downgraded the fuel cell developer from an Outperform rating to a Market Perform rating.
AirMedia Group (Nasdaq: AMCN) extended its losses.
XO Group (NYSE: XOXO) fell to a greater than expected loss for the fourth quarter.
In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 7 to 5 on the NYSE and by nearly 5 to 4 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 lost 5 points to 1841. Bitcoin slipped $10.23 or 1.60% to $627.75.
