RFID, LTD. (OTC: RFDL) proudly announces an employment agreement with retired Lieutenant John Kiernan of the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), former officer with Rescue 1 Company and featured in the rescue segment of the Oliver Stone-directed movie “World Trade Center.”
Mr. Kiernan's heroic efforts, along with other Rescue Company personnel, helped save the lives of John McLaughlin (played by Nicholas Cage) and Will Jimeno (played by Michael Pena).
Mr. Kiernan will be the spokesperson and chief marketing consultant for RFID, LTD.'s "SurvivalTag" product. The "SurvivalTag" is a real-time location device worn on the body by emergency personnel to pinpoint their location at all times during emergency situations. In the event that a firefighter or other emergency personnel is trapped or otherwise incapacitated, their location is broadcasted by the RFID component embedded in the SurvivalTag, assisting in an immediate rescue.
The SurvivalTag will be a revolutionary device in emergency personnel safety, targeting some 1,000,000 U.S. firefighters as the initial market. The million U.S. firefighters are spread out in fire departments across the United States that can range in size from a handful of firefighters to over 11,400 sworn firefighters and 4,600 additional personnel in the New York City Fire Department where Lieutenant John Kiernan served.
RFID, LTD. announced the final design phase of SurvivalTag on December 20, 2006 in a release where company president Nicholas Chavez stated: "When it comes to protecting emergency personnel, a device like SurvivalTag is long overdue... But the RFID component is just one piece of the complete SurvivalTag System, which has been heavily influenced by fire commanders who want not only to monitor locations of their squads but also their heart rates, respiratory developments, and skin temperatures."
Mr. Kiernan's activities will complement those of Fire Chief Fred Windisch who has been assisting RFID, LTD. with activities associated with SurvivalTag since November 2006.
