2015 PMC Science Fair Fun Run Celebrates 16 Years of Success

Registration is now open for the 16th Annual 5K PMC Science Fair Fun Run and this year’s event is one you won’t want to miss! The Fun Run has grown into the largest event in the technology sector and is now a major event in Vancouver. With thousands of science technology supporters over the years, our goal is to have over 1,500 participants celebrating the Fun Run’s 16th anniversary. The 16th Annual Fun Run will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at the Athlete’s Village Plaza and attract participants from the technology community, industry, academia, and K-12 schools.

All registered Fun Run participants are eligible for prizes and will receive free admission to the TELUS World of Science on race day. Families can meet science fair participants, view science fair projects, and enjoy activities provided by sponsors as they await the results and the Awards Ceremony.

Adults 19 and older may register before the early bird deadline of April 30, 2015 for only $35, while those 18 and under may register for only $20. Entrants can also participate in the 1K Mini Fun Run for children with an accompanying adult, with an entry fee of $15 each. To register online, visit www.sciencefairs.ca/funrun/.

All proceeds from the event go to The Dr. Michael Smith Science Fair Endowment to support the promotion and development of The Science Fair Program throughout the province. A few of the many notable successes of Science Fair participants in BC this year include five students moving on to participate in prestigious international science fairs; Raymond Wang, who was the 7th Science Fair alumni to be recognized as Top 20 Under 20; and Shakti Ramkumar, who was selected as a Loran Scholar and received an $80,000 scholarship. Ann Makosinski, a Google Science Fair Award winner who appeared on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, was named one of Time magazine’s 30 Under 30 World Changers and a BC Business 30 under 30 winner. By supporting the Science Fair Foundation BC, you help to encourage young people like these students to pursue careers in science and technology—and to become tomorrow’s innovators.
