Earnings set for first decline since 2009, but don’t panic

A double whammy of weak oil prices and a strong dollar is likely to drag on companies’ bottom lines, with earnings per share dropping in the first quarter, something that hasn’t happened since 2009. But history suggests that isn’t a reason to sell, says Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
