Mixed open ahead of Black Friday

The markets opened mixed with the Dow rising 28 points to 19,052 while Nasdaq fell 25 points 5,361 over modest expectations for Black Friday.


On the upside


Deere (NYSE: DE) reported better than expected earnings for the fourth quarter.


Medigus (Nasdaq: MDGS) signed a four year distribution agreement with INNOVAMEDICA to distribute Medigus Ultrasonic Surgical Endostapler equipment in Italy.


Euroseas (Nasdaq: ESEA) purchased a drybulk vessel for approximately $4.4 million and secured a short term loan facility.


On the downside


Two patients in a Phase 2 clinical trial of Juno Therapeutic's (Nasdaq: JUNO) leukemia treatment JCAR015 died.


Eli Lilly's (NYSE: LLY) Alzheimer's treatment solanezumab failed a Phase III clinical trial.


Nimble Storage (NYSE: NMBL) widened losses for the third quarter.


In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of more than 7 to 5 on the NYSE while decliners barely edged out advancers by a slim margin on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 lost 4 points to 2,202. Bitcoin fell $7 to $737.
