Stocks tacked on small gains Friday, but the gloom that hangs over the market lingered. The NYSE composite was essentially flat, while the S&P 500 rose less than 0.2%. The Nasdaq added 0.3%, boosted partly by Apple's (AAPL) 1.7% tired bounce. The IBD 50 slipped 0.2%. Volume fell across the board. Stocks started the day much higher. The Nasdaq climbed as much as 1.2%, although more stocks were falling in heavy volume than rising in active trading.
