McAfee Announces New Leaders of Worldwide Sales and Marketing
By: McAfee via Business Wire News Releases
Posted on November 13, 2012 at 12:17 PM EST

McAfee today announced that it has appointed Steve Redman as executive vice president of global sales, and Penny Baldwin has joined the company as executive vice president and chief marketing officer (CMO). Redman, who previously served as regional president for the Asia Pacific Region for McAfee, will relocate to McAfee’s Santa Clara headquarters from Sydney to lead the global sales team. Baldwin, who joins the company from Yahoo!, is now responsible for leading McAfee’s marketing efforts around the world as well as serving as an active member of the executive leadership team. Both Redman and Baldwin report directly to McAfee Co-President Michael DeCesare.

“Steve is an accomplished leader who is dedicated to our cause of keeping customers safe,” said DeCesare. “He has an impressive track record of double digit growth quarters in Asia Pacific for McAfee across all four segments – consumer, small and medium business, commercial and enterprise. As APAC president, Steve mastered a broad set of cross-functional business skills, equipping him exceptionally well for running our global sales organization. He has been instrumental in driving a strong people-based culture in APAC which has been recognized internally and externally as one of the best in the industry and beyond.”

In his previous role, Redman was responsible for all business operations for McAfee in the Asia Pacific region, including North Asia, Southeast Asia, India, Australia, and New Zealand. Since joining McAfee in 2008, Redman has guided the APAC region to four consecutive years of double-digit growth, with multiple record growth quarters. Prior to joining McAfee in January 2008, Redman spent eight years at EMC, most recently as Vice President of Asia Pacific. In this position, Redman had responsibility for the field operations of EMC Software Group across Asia Pacific and Japan. Prior to EMC, Redman was general manager of Rockwell Electronic Commerce and held positions at Lucent Technologies and Fuji Xerox.

Redman replaces Joe Sexton, who chose to depart to take a leadership role in a non-competing technology company.

“I want to express my deep appreciation to Joe for his energetic leadership and significant achievements within our sales organization and on behalf of McAfee,” continued DeCesare. “I wish him well in his new job leading a start-up.”

Prior to McAfee, Penny Baldwin was acting CMO and senior vice president, Global Brand Strategy and Marketing at Yahoo!. She previously served as president and chief executive officer of Young & Rubicam Advertising and Wunderman Direct Marketing.

“Penny is a seasoned business leader with an exceptional record of achievement across consumer, enterprise and corporate marketing,” said Mike DeCesare, co-president, McAfee. “She’s had phenomenal success in branding and marketing a diverse range of global companies and she brings a strong, new marketing presence to this organization. We continue to attract the finest talent, in part, because of our dedication to making a difference in the lives of our customers and communities.”

“I joined McAfee not only because of its reputation for leadership in security, but also because of its brand and the values it encompasses,” said Baldwin. “In talking to many people in the company, it’s clear that there’s a fervent belief that McAfee is more than just a collection of technology solutions. Rather, the company has a cause—a higher order purpose—of being relentlessly focused on making the world a safer place. As a marketer, that’s a really compelling proposition and something I want to be a part of.”

Baldwin has had success in branding and marketing a wide range of global companies such as NetApp, Hitachi Data Systems, and Citrix, to Chevron, AT&T and Cadbury Schweppes, to name only a few. Her background spans developing capabilities and leading global efforts in brand strategy, advertising, digital communications, direct marketing, event marketing, corporate identity systems, portfolio strategy, market research, website design, database marketing, social media and communications planning, measurement and analytics. She has led teams to win numerous high profile industry awards.
