StubHub, the world's largest ticket marketplace, announced today it has
raised $1 million for the Robin Hood Relief Fund through secondary sales
of tickets to “12.12.12” the Concert for Sandy Relief. Last month, StubHub
announced it would donate all its profits from the 12.12.12. event to
the charity—100% of all its fees and commissions—and today the company
announced it would round up that figure to $1 million.
"I would like to thank StubHub for their generous support of the Robin
Hood Relief Fund," said David Saltzman, executive director of Robin
Hood. "Every penny of this contribution will go to relief organizations
in the hardest hit areas that are helping victims of Hurricane Sandy
rebuild their lives."
“We want to thank all of the fans who bought or sold tickets to
‘12.12.12’, helping to raise an additional $1 million on top of the
funds raised through initial ticket sales,” said Chris Tsakalakis,
president of StubHub. “Sandy’s impact was felt far and wide, including
among many of our customers. We are happy to have provided them a way to
purchase tickets while keeping with the primary goal of the concert: to
help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.”
In addition to StubHub’s $1 million donation, StubHub’s parent company
eBay Inc. earlier this week announced its platforms have enabled more
than $10 million in support of Sandy relief efforts to date.
Founded in 1988, Robin Hood is New York’s largest poverty-fighting
organization. The Robin Hood Relief Fund is providing money, material
and know-how to organizations that are serving families and individuals
in the regions hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy. Robin Hood’s Relief Fund
has already granted $14.8 million to more than 140 organizations
throughout the tri-state area.
12.12.12 The Concert for Sandy Relief (http://www.121212concert.org),
was held on December 12 at Madison Square Garden and broadcast globally.
