Mid-Day Update On Most Active NASDAQ Stocks: (NASDAQ: DELL), (NASDAQ: INTC)

After rallying nearly 13% on Monday, Dell Inc. (NASDAQ: DELL), the maker of personal computers, is extending its gains in mid-day trading today. DELL had rallied on Monday after Bloomberg reported that the company is in discussions with private equity firms over a potential buyout. If DELL is acquired by a private equity firm, it will be biggest ever leveraged buyout.

DELL is currently trading 1.87% higher at $12.52 on volume of 51.49 million, which is more than two times the daily average volume of 23.45 million. DELL had been trading sideways prior to Monday’s rally. The stock broke through $11 resistance level on Monday, which is a bullish signal. Technical indicators suggest that the upward trend could continue.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC), a designer, manufacturer and seller of integrated digital technology platforms, is marginally lower in mid-day trading today. At last check, INTC was trading 0.31% lower at $21.93 on volume of 15.61 million, which is less than half of the daily average volume of 40.69 million. INTC has gained more than 3.5% in the last five trading sessions.

The stock is seeing a pullback after failing to break through $22 resistance level. Investors are likely to remain cautious as INTC prepares to release its quarterly results. The company will report its fourth-quarter results on Thursday, January 17, 2013.
