Stocks are lower this morning ahead of fresh data on the housing market and consumer confidence. Dow (INDEXDJX:.DJI) futures were down 0.22% at 13 803. Futures contracts on the S&P 500 (INDEXSP:.INX) fell 0.35% to 1 491.70 and Nasdaq (INDEXNASDAQ:.IXIC) futures dropped 0.32% to 2 728.75. At 9:00 a.m. EST the S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index for November will be released. Economists expect the index to show a second-straight 0.7% monthly rise in home prices in 20 cities that it studies. On a yearly basis prices probably rose 5.8%.
