Despite the enhanced ability to detect pre-cancerous masses in breast tissue, almost 200,000 women each year are diagnosed with life-threatening breast cancer. It is estimated that almost one in eight American women will develop breast cancer in their lifetimes. A Vision of Health is 501 (c)(3) nonprofit group that is offering mammograms to women in under-resourced communities around the country. By 2020, A Vision of Health hopes to have completed more than 100,000 mammograms using mobile mammography services.
Almost 68 percent of women without insurance do not get an annual screening for breast cancer, and more than half of those with insurance fail to get screened. Early detection of breast cancer can vastly improve the survival rate, which is why A Vision of Health is committed to raising awareness and offering free examinations through their mobile screening services.
In order to reach their campaign goals, A Vision of Health is asking the public to support this important project. A Vision of Health has sponsored a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to raise $25,000.
