Markets extend gains despite Greek impasse

The markets extended its gains during the midday with the Dow soaring 112 points to 17,903 even as the Greek impasse continued. Nasdaq gained 28 points to 5,058.

On the upside

Nationwide Building Society selected NCR (NYSE: NCR) to provide personalized banking services. Also, Reuters reported that Blackstone Group (NYSE: BX) and Carlyle Group (Nasdaq: CG) offered to acquire NCR for $10 million.

CDK Global (Nasdaq: CDK) announced a transformation plan to enhance shareholder value.

Shares of Anthera Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: ANTH) continued rising.
 
On the downside

Tahoe Resources (NYSE: TAHO) announced a secondary offering of more than 58 million common shares.

Bellicum Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: BLCM) secured a non-exclusive worldwide license to certain proprietary cell lines from BioVec Pharma.

Stifel downgraded Greenbrier (NYSE: GBX) from a Buy rating to a Hold rating.
 
In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of more than 5 to 3 on the NYSE and by nearly 3 to 2 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 gained 11 points to 2095. Bitcoin rose $8 to $244.
