TACOMA, Wash. - Oct. 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Associated Petroleum Products, Inc. (APP) is already a large supporter of Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in many of their fund raising efforts plus a large variety of charities in the communities they do business in, including Citizens for a Healthy Bay and Skagit Valley Hospital Foundation. APP wanted to personalize a charity effort by adopting the wish of a local, Tacoma boy named Jacob through the Make-A-Wish® Alaska and Washington.
Jacob is an energetic 10-year old who has been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a type of bone cancer. Playing sports is his passion, especially basketball. When he was diagnosed he had just started to play football. Since Jacob can’t play sports while going through treatment, he enjoys spending time reading and playing Legos.
Jacob and his family are very close and one of his favorite things to do is go on walks with his parents and sisters Isabella (8) and Eva (6). He loves the outdoors and when Jacob was given the opportunity to have his one true wish come true through Make-A-Wish® Alaska and Washington, he chose to go on a 5-Day Caribbean cruise with his family.
Jacob has never been to the Caribbean, but after seeing advertisements on TV of white sand beaches and turquoise waters, he knew that was the place he wanted to experience with his family. With stops in Nassau, Bahamas and Castaway Cay, Jacob hopes to do a lot of sight-seeing, snorkeling, sailing on a catamaran, and watching the fish through a glass bottom boat.
“Every child with a life-threatening disease deserves a wish to come true. Especially a wish that will take their minds off what they are going through, even if it’s just for a few days,” commented Taryn Miller, APP HSSE Manager. “APP’s commitment to Jacob is $5,000 for this trip of a lifetime. Between now and December, APP is working hard to raise the funds needed to grant his wish,” Taryn further commented.
