Piedmont Natural Gas Co. Inc. (NYSE: PNY) will be acquired by Duke Energy Corp. (NYSE: DUK) for a premium of approximately $4.9 billion in cash. Shares of Piedmont Natural Gas leaped $15.50 to $57.72 while Duke Energy stock fell $1.66 to $72.08.
