FT Alphaville said that Shire (Nasdaq: SHPG) may make an offer for NPS Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: NPSP). Shares of Shire slipped 46 cents to close at $173.39 while NPS Pharmaceuticals stock soared $3.68 to close at $31.13.
