Mixed open on Trump victory

The markets opened mixed with the Dow rising 15 points to 18,348 while Nasdaq lost 15 points to 5,178 as investors reacted to Donald Trump's election victory.


On the upside


Shares of U.S. Steel (NYSE: X) and AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) climbed after Donald Trump won the presidential election.


A Trump victory sent shares of prison operators Correction Corporation of America (NYSE: CXW) and The GEO Group (NYSE: GEO) soaring.


United Rentals (NYSE: URI) opened seven more specialty rental branches.


On the downside


Shares of BioScrip (Nasdaq: BIOS) extended its losses.


Shares of Community Health Systems (NYSE: CYH) and Tenet Healthcare (NYSE: THC) plunged on the presidential election results.


Third quarter revenue for TripAdvisor (Nasdaq: TRIP) missed analyst expectations.


In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of nearly 3 to 1 on the NYSE and by more than 5 to 3 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 added 2 points to 2,142. Bitcoin climbed $14 to $717.
