GM to transition to electric vehicles

General Motors will slowly transition from making traditional internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles. The automaker will introduce two new electric vehicles over the next 18 months and plans to add 20 new electric vehicles around the world by 2023. Regulators in Europe and China may ban gas and diesel cars by 2030 or 2040.


After revealing that Russian entities paid for ads to influence the presidential 2016 election, Facebook is taking steps to increase the scrutiny of ads. Organizations that want to buy political ads will be required to produce documentation about their business. The social network will hire 1,000 more people to review ad submissions.


Roku has updated some of its streaming video players and introduced a few new products in order to stay competitive in an increasingly crowded market. The new Roku Streaming Stick Plus, priced at $69.99, supports HDR and 4K Ultra HD while processor updates were made for both the Roku Express and Roku Express Plus. The products are currently available for pre-order and will be available on October 8.


The broader S&P 500 gained 8 points to 2,527. Bitcoin climbed $66 to $4,389.
