October is Liver Awareness Month. Here's a Question for you. Do you Know How Important Your Liver is?

CARLSBAD, CA, October 21, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- October is Liver Awareness Month. Here's a question for you. Did you know that your liver is responsible for 500 functions that keep your body healthy and that it plays a central role in all metabolic processes in your body? The liver even has the ability to regenerate. With the increase in Fatty Liver Disease becoming more prevalent in our society, especially in our young, it is so important you keep your liver as healthy as possible. It's all about conducting a healthy lifestyle; eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly.

So how healthy is your lifestyle? The creators of the Amsety Bar, conducted a survey among people with liver health conditions to get some answers, and when those involved were asked what ranked most important in their liver health, 92% declared nutrition. They valued this over exercise, medical checkups, and abstinence from alcohol and medication. But the results revealed that even though they knew nutrition was at the top of the list for their health, many did not practice what they knew they needed to do.

Even though many did not practice what mattered in their diets, 69% of participants understood that their intake of food should not include refined sugar and 61% were knowledgeable about the importance of a low sodium diet. When it came to additional elements of nutritional importance, 45% deemed that food should not be genetically modified ("non-GMO"), and felt that organic, gluten free, dairy free and kosher foods were healthier for their livers.

Results also disclosed, that close to half of participants did not have healthy eating habits, and even more did not exercise regularly. During the last two weeks, 52% of participants had not eaten home cooked meals regularly, 51% had not eaten vegetables consistently and fruit was not consumed steadily by 58% of the participants. Junk food was consumed once or twice within the two-week time span by 54% and 48% had eaten at a fast food restaurant, washing their meal down with a sugary soda.

Why you ask, would you reach for fast food instead of a healthier choice, especially when you know how it affects your personal health? The lack of time and lack of a better choice on-the-go were two of the top answers. That's why Amsety developed the Amsety Bar.
