On August 6, 8, and 9, 2014, school supplies and backpacks will be provided to children in the community and guests of the Topeka Rescue Mission, a charitable organization that provides food, shelter, and clothing to those in need during their Back to School Fair. In addition to backpacks filled with school supplies, children at the Mission will also receive a new outfit and pair of shoes for school. This Back to School Fair provides essential items for children who otherwise may not have what they need to start school this year.
Dates and times for the Back to School Fair are as follows:
- August 6 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. for children who live at the Mission
- August 8 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. for children from the local community
- August 9 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. for children from the local community

And with additional budget cuts, schools are unable to fill this gap and provide supplies for these children.
