Alexander Law Group Attorney Weighs In On Salesforce Trafficking Suit

Experienced personal injury attorney Richard Alexander provided NBC San Jose Channel 11 with valuable legal insight regarding a recent lawsuit against the popular business growth platform.

San Jose, CA - May 6, 2019 /MarketersMedia/

Expert personal injury lawyer Richard Alexander of the San Jose-based law firm Alexander Law Group, LLP was interviewed by Scott Budman of NBC San Jose Channel 11 in regard to the recent lawsuit against Salesforce by 50 enslaved prostitutes from across the U.S. who are suffering as a result of Salesforce conspiring with Backpage, the notorious human trafficking site that has since been closed down.

Richard explains, "During the interview I explained that Salesforce did more than just provide software. It was intimately involved in the day to day applications of its software, which was specially designed for pimps and human traffickers to abuse and exploit women. The company crafted multiple software applications and remarketing campaigns for Backpage's criminal empire.”

Attorney Alexander continued, “Under California law, a conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor is a felony, and Salesforce aided and abetted Backpage for years. One overt act in support of a conspiracy makes the perpetrator a co-conspirator and as a result Salesforce stands in the shoes of Backpage, which closed its site in April 2018 after pleading guilty to ‘knowingly facilitating prostitution’."

During the interview, the experienced personal injury and wrongful death attorney referred to an April 2018 testimony before Congress where Facebook Chairman and CEO Mark Zuckerberg indicated the company had not “taken a broad enough view of Facebook's responsibility to the community and content.” Zuckerberg added, "We [Facebook] need to make sure that people aren't using it to harm other people or to spread misinformation. Across the board we have a responsibility to not just build tools, but to make sure they're used for good." The same applies to Salesforce.

It is personal injury and car accident lawyer Richard Alexander’s legal assessment that Salesforce cannot choose to be willfully blind in operating its business. The company has to take complete responsibility for knowing who its customers are and how they are being supported by their software.
