On the upside
Amarin (Nasdaq: AMRN) received a "Reasons for Allowance" notice for its prescription fish-oil pill AMR101 patent application.
Lennar (NYSE: LEN) reported sharply higher second quarter earnings and revenue that beat analyst expectations by a wide margin as new orders surged.
Alpha Natural Resources (NYSE: ANR) amended its secured credit facility in order to increase its financial flexibility.
On the downside
O'Reilly Automotive (Nasdaq: ORLY) lowered its second quarter earnings outlook.
Omeros (Nasdaq: OMER) priced its public offering of approximately 2.9 million common shares at the discounted price of $10.25 per share.
Campus Crest (NYSE: CCG) priced its public offering of 6.5 million common shares at the discounted price of $10.10 per share.
In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of 2 to 1 on the NYSE and by nearly 5 to 3 on Nasdaq. The Russell 2000 which tracks small cap stocks edged up a point to 766.
Nasdaq quotes delayed at least 15 minutes, all others at least 20 minutes.
