Opponents testify against D.R. Horton Hawaii project

Opponents of D.R. Horton’s Hawaii Schuler Division’s Hoopili project on Oahu spent Friday morning continuing to present their case to stop the development. The planned 11,750-home subdivision on 1,554 acres of land in Ewa, is back before Hawaii’s Land Use Commission, which began hearing testimony on Thursday. D.R. Horton Inc. (NYSE: DHI) is asking for approval to change the classification of prime agricultural land to urban. Intervenors, including Panos Prevedorous, a University of Hawaii Manoa civil engineering professor and one-time Honolulu mayor candidate, argued that Hoopili is not the right use for the land...
