CEMEX Statement Regarding Repurposed NESHAP and NSPS
Posted on June 25, 2012 at 17:51 PM EDT

CEMEX today released the following statement regarding the portland cement national emission standard for hazardous air pollutants (NESHAP) and new source performance standards (NSPS), revisions to which were proposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today.

The statement below is attributable to Karl Watson, Jr., President of CEMEX USA.

“CEMEX is pleased with the new NESHAP proposal issued by the EPA. The EPA took into consideration the facts provided by the cement industry and made a good faith effort to re-craft the NESHAP in a way that is balanced, technically sound and consistent with the process on reconsideration.

This new proposal also allows the cement industry additional time to make investments and operational changes necessary to comply with the new standards.

We look forward to providing comments on the record in order to produce a final rule that will not only support our operations, but also our ongoing commitment to responsible environmental stewardship.”
