Lampix: Introducing the Future of Intelligent, Interactive Tabletop Augmented Reality

New York, NY – On March 16 2018, George Popescu and Mihai Dumitrescu launched a Kickstarter campaign for Lampix, an interactive tabletop AR system that uses machine learning to recognize, reveal and react to the visual world.

“Lampix and our followers have been looking forward to this Kickstarter effort and we are very excited for the campaign to come to fruition,” said George Popescu, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer.

Lampix joins the revolutionary list of voice, virtual reality, augmented reality and IoT edge devices that are taking the promise of the digital era to a new realm—one that’s centered on creating high-value experiences beyond desktop, laptop and even mobile screens.

Lampix merges a few simple, familiar elements—and one groundbreaking element—into something new. At its core, Lampix looks like a fashionable LED table lamp, but it houses a high definition projector and camera that does more than just display your screen on a flat surface. Lampix recognizes fine hand movements and intelligently responds to an ever-growing list of real-world objects, inviting interaction on a whole new scale.

The Lampix team is looking to raise $200,000 USD on Kickstarter by April 15 2018 to help bring this innovative new surface technology to conference rooms, cubicles, restaurants, stores, kitchen tables, gaming tables, and more.

The Lampix Developer Edition comes with a fully functioning toolkit, as well as software support and a regular line of communication with the company’s development and hardware teams. Developers are encouraged to create new kinds of interactive apps along with images to grow Lampix’s machine learning visual engine.

“This is a key step in getting Lampix into the hands of developers and technology enthusiasts around the U.S. and, later, the world,” explained Gordon Meyer, Vice President of Marketing.

In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of limited rewards including one Lampix Developer Edition and a Lampix “Stop Staring at Your Screen” pin starting at $350 USD for early backers.
