BGE Teams Up with the Baltimore Ravens and Green Street Academy to Support ‘Recycling with the Ravens’ and #GamePlanEarth at this Sunday’s Ravens Home Game

This weekend, as part of Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE)’s steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship, the company will support the ‘Recycling with the Ravens’ campaign at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens. On Sunday, students, parents and teachers from Green Street Academy will join volunteers from BGE’s Eco-Team to promote and increase recycling efforts with fans prior to entering M&T Bank Stadium. More than 50 volunteers will provide literature about the recycling options at M&T Bank Stadium, talk about the benefits of recycling and collect recyclables throughout the stadium parking lots.

This is the third year BGE has teamed up with Green Street Academy and the Ravens to promote recycling with the fans at home games. As part of this joint effort over the past two seasons, more than 16 tons of recyclables were disposed of properly at M&T Bank Stadium.

This year, the Ravens launched a new program called “GamePlanEarth” (GPE) and Green Street Academy is their first Ambassador. GPE is a week of environmental initiatives established and led by the Ravens to help better the Baltimore community. Through activation, the Ravens plan to make Baltimore a more sustainable city by informing fans about the growing environmental challenges and educating them on how to recycle, reuse and conserve. GPE is an extension of the organization's continued efforts to reinforce M&T Bank Stadium's LEED Gold Certification, a designation given to organizations that strive to deliver healthy, environmental-friendly, cost-saving and energy- and water-efficient operating buildings in the community.

“BGE has a long-standing commitment to enhancing the communities we serve, whether it is through philanthropic giving or employee volunteer opportunities, and we are proud to support the Baltimore Ravens and their fans, while doing our part to protect the environment,” said Valencia McClure, director of communications, BGE.

Fans attending the game against the Jaguars on Sunday are encouraged to look for BGE and Green Street Academy volunteers in green shirts, who will be walking the lots, collecting recyclable material, educating fans and handing out a limited number of Ravens #GamePlanEarth-marked beverage koozies.
