On the downside
A move by China to halt the expansion of online micro lenders sent shares of Qudian (NYSE: QD) tumbling.
Iconix Brand Group (Nasdaq: ICON) will be removed from the S&P SmallCap 600.
Baozun (Nasdaq: BZUN) reported higher third quarter earnings and revenue but the stock price fell.
In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of more than 5 to 4 on the NYSE and by nearly 9 to 8 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 eased a point to 2,597. Bitcoin leaped $209 to $8,187.
