WASHINGTON, March 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ASAE expanded its Great Ideas Conference this year and hosted its first international event in Hong Kong from March 22-24. ASAE's Great Ideas in Association Management Conference, Asia-Pacific had 176 participants from 16 countries, with 83 percent buyers (association staff) and 17 percent sellers (industry partners). The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), an event partner of ASAE, was the conference sponsor.
The conference drew attendees from the Asia-Pacific region, U.S., Europe, and the Middle East. Education sessions focused on different areas of association management including technology, membership, global business strategies, marketing, and product development. Participants also took part in sunrise sessions including Tai Chi, Calligraphy, and how to do business in Hong Kong.
"The conference had a great mix of association professionals and industry partners from across the globe, which helped enriched our understanding of how our colleagues are utilizing different strategies and tactics inside their organizations. Attendees were able to network and gain a better understanding of the Asia-Pacific region growth, and how they could expand their efforts internationally," said ASAE President and CEO John H. For the Opening General Session, ASAE's President and CEO John H. Graham, IV, FASAE, CAE, discussed the value of associations to the global society. He also talked about the growth of associations in the Asia-Pacific region, trends impacting the community, and how the community can move forward together.
During the Closing General Session, Alfred Chan, Managing Director of Hong Kong and China Gas Company Ltd and Chairman of the Hong Kong Management Association, outlined key strategic decisions that will help lead to a successful growth story in China.
The event featured 16 table top exhibits from suppliers and industry partners from around the world. Other supporting organizations include: Aptify, ASAE's Strategic Partner, Dubai Association Centre, ASAE's Event Partner, the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA), International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), and Union of International Associations (UIA).
ASAE will host another Great Ideas in Association Management Conference, Asia-Pacific next year.
