Press and Customers Embrace Anixter ipAssured Program

GLENVIEW, Ill., Nov. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In a series of webinars, Anixter unveiled the security infrastructure phase of its new Anixter ipAssured(SM) infrastructure assurance program, which provides enterprises with the understanding of how a cabling network impacts application choices and investment returns. Upcoming phases of the program include data network and industrial communications infrastructures.

Customer responses after attending the webinars included, "I am working on a 10-year plan for asset replacement and migration of existing analog CCTV systems to IP. I found the information very useful." Additionally, more than 88 percent of respondents to the post-webinar survey said the ipAssured program will change the way they make cabling purchases and recommendations.

The trade press also has responded positively to the ipAssured announcement, with mentions in many online and print publications and requests for interviews. According to one reporter, "The program is designed to make infrastructure choices clear and categorizes the options available based on application or end-use, which makes perfect sense and is the way things should be done."

Anixter ipAssured is an infrastructure assurance program that matches the cabling infrastructure to the security equipment based on the technical, application and life-cycle requirements of the user. Developed by extensive testing and research from Anixter's Infrastructure Solutions Lab, Anixter ipAssured provides cabling recommendations based on the security applications a company is running, including analog video, IP video, access control, storage and recording. The results from the testing done in The Lab allow Anixter to make cabling recommendations based on the planned life cycle of the security applications. Anixter ipAssured divides cabling infrastructure solutions into IP-Class 1+ (1 to 5 years), IP-Class 5+ (5 to 10 years) and IP-Class 10+ (more than 10 years).

The program is supported by Anixter's manufacturer partners: ADC, Belden, CommScope, Berk-Tek and Ortronics' NetClear, and PANDUIT. The infrastructure choices in the ipAssured program are backed by these best-in-class companies and their warranty programs.

The evolution of Anixter ipAssured is rooted in Anixter's dedication to technical expertise and standards development. As the creator of the first UTP cabling performance specification that later became the TIA/EIA Categories, the value of ipAssured to Anixter's customers is in the future. The proper infrastructure choices today can have return on investment (ROI) benefits in the future. An Anixter sales representative can walk customers through these choices by using an ROI calculator to help estimate just how much money can be saved by installing the proper infrastructure upfront.
