Katanga Mining appoints new Chief Operating Officer

ZUG, Switzerland, Sept. 25, 2013 /CNW/ - Katanga Mining Limited (TSX: KAT) ("Katanga" or the "Company") today announces that Mr. Itamar Machado, Chief Operating Officer of the Company, has resigned to pursue other opportunities within the Glencore Xstrata Group. Mr. Machado will remain available to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.

Mr. Richmond Fenn, who joined the Company in June 2013 as Director Operations, has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Company, effective immediately. Mr. Fenn has 30 years of experience in the mining sector including ten years working as an expatriate in Peru, Chile, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Mr. Fenn holds a degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Arizona and is a Registered Professional Engineer.
