Let's Play Canada!

Canada Dry Mott's and Good Sports team up to award $55,000 in sports equipment grants to support healthy, active lifestyles for children across Canada

TORONTO, Nov. 13, 2014 /CNW/ - This fall, Canada Dry Mott's and the non-profit organization Good Sports partnered to provide community groups across Canada with grants through the Let's Play program. These equipment grants, valued up to $10,000 per location, help provide children and their caregivers with the tools, places and inspiration to make physical activity a daily priority.

"At Canada Dry Mott's, we truly believe that all children should have the opportunity to be active," said Carol-Anne Gower, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Canada Dry Mott's. "The Let's Play program recognizes some of the amazing organizations throughout the country that are working with our youth and we're thrilled to be able to provide them with additional resources to help kids experience more active play."

"Since 2012, Canada Dry Motts and Good Sports have impacted nearly 16,000 youth with over $105,000 in new sports equipment to kids in need across Canada," said Good Sports CEO, Melissa Harper. "We are honored to make these donations with such an incredible partner in CDM and we hope to impact even more youth in the years to come."

This year, six charities from across Canada received grants:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters London and area, London, ON
  • Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops, Kamloops, BC
  • Boys and Girls Club of Niagara, Fort Erie, ON
  • North River Minor Hockey Association, Cornwall, PEI
  • Rapport Youth & Family Services, Mississauga, ON
  • YMCA of Northern Alberta, Edmonton, AB

"We're so grateful to Canada Dry Mott's and Good Sports for the equipment donation," said Rapport Youth & Family Services executive director David Clement. "Because of the donation, we now have additional sports including basketball, dodgeball and hockey to name a few. It has made such a positive impact on our program and helping our participants keep active while having fun."

With limited opportunities to participate in active play throughout the day. The Let's Play program led by Canada Dry Mott's and its parent company Dr Pepper Snapple Group is designed to help kids and families get more active.

An annual program, community groups and non-profit organizations helping children maintain a healthy lifestyle are all eligible to apply for upcoming grants for sports equipment online at www.canadadrymotts.ca.
