SunTrust Announces Key Appointments within Finance Team

ATLANTA, July 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE: STI) today announced that Al Kolesar has been named corporate treasurer. He succeeds Kevin Blair who has resigned from the company to pursue other opportunities.

Kolesar, who most recently served as leader of Capital Adequacy and Resolution for SunTrust, will oversee the company's liquidity, capital management, investment portfolio and balance sheet strategy. Tom Panther, SunTrust director of corporate finance and controller, will assume oversight of Capital Adequacy and Resolution previously managed by Kolesar. Both will report to SunTrust Chief Financial Officer Aleem Gillani. The appointments are effective July 15.

The company also announced that Ankur Vyas has been appointed assistant treasurer in addition to his responsibilities as director of Investor Relations, effective August 15. Vyas will dually report to Gillani and Kolesar.

In his most recent role as leader of Capital Adequacy and Resolution, Kolesar oversaw management of the capital adequacy and resolution planning programs. An 11-year veteran of SunTrust, he has served as assistant treasurer, chief market risk officer, operational risk manager in commercial and investment banking, and chief financial officer for SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. Prior to joining SunTrust, Kolesar worked in the structured products group at Banc of America Securities, where he held various positions including trader and product controller. Kolesar earned a bachelor's degree from Yale University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.    

A 16-year SunTrust veteran, Panther is responsible for financial performance analysis and reporting, as well as business planning and forecasting for the company and its business segments. In addition, as controller, Panther is responsible for corporate accounting policies and controls, SEC and Bank regulatory financial reporting, and accounting operations. He joined SunTrust in 2000 and has held a broad range of positions across finance, accounting, management information and financial controls. He was named controller and chief accounting officer in 2004, and added oversight of Corporate Finance in 2011. Panther, a certified public accountant, earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Richmond.

Vyas joined SunTrust in 2013 as director of Investor Relations. Prior to joining SunTrust, Vyas was vice president in the financial institutions group of Goldman Sachs where he provided corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and capital raising advice to financial services companies primarily in North America. Before that, he served as vice president of strategic planning for First Horizon National Corporation and worked in the structured credit products group at Banc of America Securities. Vyas holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Duke University.
