FARMINGDALE, N.Y., Oct. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation (NYSE: GFF), announced today that their AN/UPX-44A All-Mode Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) interrogator has attained AIMS DoD 03-1000B certification on the Japan Air Defense Ground Environment (JADGE) program. Telephonics, with its partners, International Aviation Technical Services, Inc. (IATS) and Toshiba Corporation, worked closely with the Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) and the U.S. DoD AIMS program office during the certification process.

The AN/UPX-44A is the first IFF interrogator to achieve the more stringent test requirements of the new "B" level AIMS certification. The first AN/UPX-44A IFF production system has been delivered to and will enable JASDF to identify military and civilian aircraft, verify forces as friendly and determine their bearing and range.
