AMBER Ready Foundation Donates In-Car Printers to Help Law Enforcement Find Missing Children in Georgia

ROCKAWAY, N.J., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- On Monday at the AMBER Ready Child Safety Tour's stop in Atlanta, GA, the AMBER Ready Foundation donated in-car printers to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) and the Newton Police Department.

The in-car printers will help local law enforcement officials quickly print missing child posters from police patrol cars to assist in the search for children reported missing. Used with AMBER Ready's new technology that allows parents to store in their cell phones photos and vital identification information about their children, law enforcement will have the capacity to reduce the time it takes to put a missing child on alert.

Having been presented with one of the printers by the AMBER Ready Foundation, Robert J. Ford, Special Agent in Charge at the GBI and the Amber Alert Coordinator for the State of Georgia, commented, "Having an in-car printer is definitely an enhancement to law enforcement and will help in the search for missing kids."

"As we travel from city to city on our 30-City Tour, we see that law enforcement has a need to improve their ability to decrease the time it takes to begin the search for missing kids," said AMBER Ready, CEO, Kai Patterson.

"Small towns and communities," said Patterson, "are often the places where child abductions occur. The police departments in these smaller towns do not always have the equipment they need. That is one reason we are making these donations."

"Our goal," said Patterson, "is to send a clear message to anyone who would abduct a child - the combination of parents who are AMBER Ready and better equipped law enforcement agencies will significantly reduce the time it takes to search for and find missing or abducted children."

"Missing Child Posters are a highly effective means of helping to find abducted or runaway kids. When people recognize a child and notify the law enforcement agency listed on the poster, vital and potentially life-saving leads are generated relating to the possible whereabouts of the missing child. Empowered with an ability to create flyers instantly in a patrol car - anywhere, anytime, precious time delays can be avoided and the opportunity for law enforcement to more expeditiously locate a child, who may be in danger, is significantly enhanced," said Patterson.

Today, the AMBER Ready Child Safety Tour will be in Nashville to host a panel discussion on child safety for parents at the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs from 7pm to 9 pm. The tour will be in Philadelphia on June 8th and San Diego on June 9th.
