UCLA Extension has maintained registration with Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board) to offer certificates in financial planning.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports employment of personal financial advisors is projected to grow 27 percent from 2012 to 2022. The driver of growth is the aging population, as baby boomers approach retirement and seek planning advice from personal financial planners.
The two certificates in Personal Financial Planning at UCLA Extension are available in flexible formats (classroom and instructor-led online) with students completing the curriculum between from 9 months to 2 years. Courses cover the financial planning process: from retirement benefits, insurance, and investments to estate planning and taxes.
An independent certifying organization, CFP Board owns the CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification marks, which it awards to individuals who meet its education, examination, experience, ethics and other requirements. Students completing the financial planning program at UCLA Extension will have met the Education requirement for CFP® Certification Examination administered by CFP Board. Over 360 programs at more than 225 institutions partner with the CFP Board.
