NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - May 3, 2016 - PRLog -- The American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons announces the launch of its new website to make it easier for patients to obtain information.

The American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons is a specialized organization devoted to the needs of patients that have lost massive amounts of weight through either dieting or surgery. It was established over five years ago and is an informational resource for patients. The website provides details of various procedures as well as shows realistic before and after photographs.

Patients are able to ask questions of member plastic surgeons as well as purchase DVD's of the most common operations, gift cards and wound therapy. It also provides contact information for member plastic surgeons.

ASBPS members are all certified by either the American Board of Plastic Surgery or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and most are members of American Society of Plastic Surgeons and/or the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (http://surgery.org).

All members have a special interest in the care and treatment of post-bariatric patients; a specialized field of plastic surgery. This field has grown tremendously over past several years, bariatric surgery-either lap band surgery, a constrictive band around the stomach, or gastric bypass, the actual reduction of the stomach has increased due to obesity being accepted and labelled by Medicare as a disease in 2008 with these procedures being covered by insurance.

"After the weight loss, which can be more than one hundred pounds, these patients are left with tremendous amounts of loose skin," said Dr. Edward Domanskis (http://www.surgery-plastic.com), President of ASBPS (http://www.asbps.org). This not only continues to be a disability for these patients, but is cosmetically unacceptable."

"We are seeing our subspecialty of bariatric plastic surgery grow exponentially and we continue to look forward to help educate the massive weight loss patients and serve as an informational resource for them providing vital information through our new and expanded websites," concluded Dr. Domanskis.
