Attorney Advertising. The law firm of Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz LLP is investigating possible misconduct relating to the securities of Fortis, Fortis SA/NV, and Fortis NV [Brussels: FORB BB]; [OTC: FORSF]; [EURONEXT: FORA]; [EURONEXT: FORB]; or [LUXSE: FOR].
Specifically, Wolf Haldenstein is investigating whether certain officer and directors of Fortis issued materially false statements to the investing public concerning the company’s liquidity position, exposure to risky investments, accounting practices, and the acquisition of ABN Amro Holding NV assets last year.
Fortis’ precipitous decline necessitated that the Netherlands purchase the Dutch businesses of Fortis and ABN Amro for 16.8 billion Euros. It also resulted in the Belgian government assuming control over Fortis’ business in that country and then selling 75% of its holdings to BNP Paribas SA for 8.25 billion Euros ($11.2 billion) in stock, leaving Belgian with an 11.6 percent stake in BNP Paribas SA. The shares have not traded since October 3, 2008.
If you purchases Fortis securities, you may have legal claims under the federal securities law of the United States and some European countries.
