California American Water to Purchase Ox Bow Marina Mutual Water Company

California American Water has entered into an agreement to acquire the operating assets of Ox Bow Marina Mutual Water Company and assume the responsibility for the provision of domestic water services within Oxbow’s service area in Sacramento County.

Ox Bow Marina is located approximately one mile southeast of California American Water’s domestic water system, which serves the City of Isleton as part of its Sacramento service district. Ox Bow provides water service to 95 manufactured home sites and a 400-berth marina. Water supply at Ox Bow is currently produced from two wells that exceed federal standards for arsenic.

Ox Bow is in process of securing project funding through Proposition 84, which provides grant funding assistance to help improve water quality for communities in California. The project will include the installation of a mile-long pipeline that will extend to the Isleton system. At Isleton, California American Water owns and operates a state-of-the-art arsenic removal facility that produces high-quality, domestic water that meets all state and federal water quality standards.

"We are pleased to be working with Ox Bow and state public health officials to ensure the provision of clean and reliable water to the community," said California American Water's Director of Northern California Operations S. Audie Foster. "We will also be pleased to offer expanded services including a customer service center, web self-service, paperless billing, water efficiency programs and rebates and our H2O Help to Others Program, which provides Low-Income Rate Assistance to customer such as seniors on low, fixed incomes and to families facing financial hardships."

"This is most certainly a positive step to securing long-term quality service for our customers at Oxbow," said Jake Gibbs, Vice President of the Ox Bow Mutual Water Company Board of Directors.

California American Water currently supplies water service to nearly 60,000 homes and businesses in the Sacramento region and nearly 175,000 customers within the State of California. Customers will be served by California American Water's water treatment and distribution operators who are experts in their fields and are certified through the California Department of Public Health.
